Weekend joys/woes

draconisregenaOkay time for the dish on WW (Warriors and warlords, an SCA event for my nonmember buddies). It was one of those weekends where I had a ton of fun but one where the fates declared that Diane thy true name is stupid.
I got there on Thursday after a somewhat stressful drive. I hate construction, and I didn't get started out from Chicago when I wanted to so I was delayed. Stood around in the campsite like a dumbass going 'I know that's his device but...where is everyone?' Dietrich and Maire found me eventually and helped me unload.
Woke up at 4 am on Friday, there are some things I am not accustomed to sleeping through and one of those things is birdsong. Schelpped armor to the fencing list where I realized after putting it all on that I had forgotten my membership card. Couldn't fight, ended up waterbearing. I confess I whined a little about it but I was really looking forward to fighting. Got a few pickup fights and one good bruise. That bruise was the center of attention come Saturday (it is really pretty)
Tried to get to the Library on Saturday to print out my proof of membership so I could fight, but it was not to be so it was off to the classes with me. Muslim Embroidery and Bladesmithing. Burned myself at the forge a few times but it was worth it, my knife will be pretty. It was a productive day oh yes. The evening however was far far more fun. You have no idea how rare it is to have meaningful intelligent conversation with someone of the male persuasion. It was lovely. Moon, stars, animal noises, sand and headlights. I could have done without the headlights. Headed to the parties after that and was very very amused. All of my buddies were just smashed, and i would have loved to see some of them in the morning hehe. Drank a little, and discovered I do not like the effect tequila has on me. I think I'll stick with raspberry rum. Flirted lots, but then that is the name of the game and I like it. It was very nice to have someone to snuggle with and giggle at the drunk people with...and he discovered one of my weaknesses. And no, if you are not already privelaged with this information you don't get it :P
